Abstract
These Guidelines are formulated in accordance with the Anti-Food Waste, the Consumer Protection Law, the Electronic Commerce Law, the Advertising Law, the Anti-Unfair Competition Law and other laws, aiming to aim to reduce food waste in China's booming food delivery industry while promoting responsible marketing practices among platforms and vendors.
The Guidelines provide guidance on marketing behaviors that may cause food waste in takeout, and clarify the specific requirements for preventing food waste in related links. Takeout merchants are encouraged to establish and improve internal management systems, reduce the waste of raw materials and finished products, and improve the quality of food supply. The Guidelines direct online food delivery platforms to conscientiously implement the provisions of the Anti-Food Waste Law and other relevant laws and regulations to optimize the display of food item information, improve mechanisms for combined orders and discounts, strengthen monitoring and review of advertisements published by platform operators, establish and enhance evaluation mechanisms to assess food waste in food delivery services, and promote the prevention of food waste at its source.
