Abstract
These Measures, consisting of 14 Articles, are enacted for the purpose of strengthening the protection of geographical indications in China and unifying and regulating the use of special marks for geographical indications.   
For the purpose of these Measures, “special marks for geographical indications” means the official marks applicable to geographical indications products produced in accordance with relevant standards, management norms or administrative rules for such use. The State Intellectual Property Administration is responsible for uniformly formulating and issuing requirements for the administration of the use of special geographical indications, and organizing the implementation of supervision and administration of the use of special geographical indications. Local intellectual property management departments are responsible for the daily supervision of the use of special geographical indication marks. Article 4 provides for the obligations of legal users of special geographical indications, including:(1) Organizing the production of geographical indication products in accordance with relevant standards, management norms and usage management rules; (2) Timely disclose to the public and regularly report the situation of the use of special marks for geographical indications to the local intellectual property management department; etc.
