Measures for reservoir dam safety appraisal.

The purpose of these Measures is to strengthen reservoir dam safety management, regulate dam safety appraisal work and guarantee the safe operation of dams. The Text consists of 23 Articles divided into 4 Chapters: General provisions (I); Procedures and organization (II); Content of appraisal (III); Supplementary provisions (IV).
Dam safety assessment shall go through three basic procedures: dam safety assessment, dam safety appraisal technology review and dam safety appraisal opinion approval. The content of dam safety assessment includes the evaluation of dam engineering quality, dam operation and management, flood control standard, dam structure safety, the safety for the seepage, the safety against earthquakes, the comprehensive evaluation of dam safety, etc. Article 11 provides for the requirements to be satisfied by the institutions carrying out the dam safety appraisal.
