Regulations on administration of reservoir dam safety.

The purpose of these Regulations is to strengthen reservoir dam safety management. The Text consists of 34 Articles divided into 6 Chapters: General provisions (I); Dam construction (II); Dam management (III); Dangerous dam treatment (IV); Legal liabilities (V); Supplementary provisions (VI).
These Regulations are applicable to reservoir dams with height of more than 15 meters or storage capacity of more than 1 million cubic meters. The competent department of water administration under the State Council shall take charge of the supervision on dam safety throughout the country. Reservoir dams and the facilities thereof are protected by the state. The construction of the dams shall be in accordance with the national standards. For dangerous dams which have not met the designed flood control and seismic fortification standards or have the serious quality defects, the dam competent authority shall organize the relevant units to make classification, take reinforcement measures, or reconstruct the dams.
