Abstract
These Measures are enacted to strengthen the supervision and management of salt quality and safety and ensure the health and life safety of the public. The Measures consist of 29 Articles.
To engage in table salt production activities, a food production license shall be obtained. Operators of salt production and business operation shall ensure that the table salt produced and operated by them conforms to the provisions of laws, regulations, rules and food safety standards.
Table salt production enterprises shall use food additives in accordance with national food safety standards, and shall not exceed the scope and limits of use stipulated in national food safety standards. The storage and transportation of table salt shall meet the requirements of food safety. The Measures further make provisions for table salt packaging/labelling, quality and safety traceability requirements, inspection and supervision, offences and penalries, etc.
