Abstract
These Regulations are formulated in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Law of the People's Republic of China on Protecting Against and Mitigating Earthquake Disasters for the purposes of strengthening administration of seismic safety evaluation, protecting against and mitigating earthquake disasters and ensuring the people's safety of lives and property. The text consists of 26 Articles divided into 7 Chapters: General provisions (I); Entities Engaged in Seismic Safety Assessment (II); Scope of and Requirements for Seismic Safety Assessment (III); Examination and Approval of Seismic Safety Assessment Reports (IV); Supervision and Administration (V); Legal liabilities (VI); and Supplementary provisions (VII).
Entities engaged in seismic safety assessment must obtain the qualification certificates for seismic safety assessment before they may conduct any seismic safety assessment. The State encourages and supports scientific and technological research in seismic safety assessment, spreads the application of advanced scientific and technological achievements.
