Abstract
The aim of these Regulations is to strengthen the management of live pig slaughter, ensure quality of live pig products, and protect people's health. The Text consists of 42 Articles.
The competent departments of commerce of the people's governments at or above the county level shall be responsible for the supervision and administration of the activities of the pig slaughter in their administrative areas (art.5). The system of designated slaughter and centralized quarantine shall be executed on live pig slaughter. No units or individuals may be engaged in activities of live pig slaughter without designation except the individuals in rural areas who slaughter live pigs by themselves for their own consumption (art.3). Article 10 provides for requirements to be satisfied by small-scale live pig slaughterhouses.

Local people's governments at or above the county level shall strengthen the supervision and leadership of the live pig slaughter management. The Regulations further provide for offences and penalties.
