Decree-Law No. 18/2018 approving the structure, organization and functioning of the Ministry of Tourism and Transport (MTT).

This Law, consisting of 23 articles divided into three Chapters, approves the structure, organization and functioning of the Ministry of Tourism and Transport (MTT). It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of MTT as a government department, whose mission is to design, propose, coordinate, execute and evaluate public policies in the areas of tourism, air transport, etc. MTT in particular is entitled to: a) design, propose, coordinate and implement strategic policies on tourism and air transport; b) develop a concerted and sustained action, articulating the tourism policy with the management and conservation of the natural resources with social, cultural and environmental realities necessary for the qualification, diversification and competitiveness of the national tourism sector; c) promote infrastructures to support tourism activities, and to implement policies and strategies to follow up these activities; d) inventory the existing tourist offer and to forecast its potential growth potential, and to work, in articulation with sectoral agents, in the consolidation of tourist products; e) participate actively in the elaboration of territorial management instruments and in actions of tourism planning and supply structuring; f) encourage and support national entrepreneurship in the areas of tourism and air transport, and make feasible infrastructural and business investments conducive to the country's balanced development; promote the valuation of strategic tourism products; etc.
