This Decree-Law extinguishes the National Society for Rural and Forestry Engineering, as a Public Business Entity (Sociedade Nacional de Engenharia Rural e Florestas, Entidade Pública Empresarial - SONERF, E.P.E.). SONERF, E.P.E. is a public business entity that was created in February 2013 by Decree-Law No. 7/2013 of 26 December, amended by Decree-Law No. 55/2013 of 26 December, with the aim of managing and maintaining public hydraulic and hydrogeological infrastructures, as well as inventorying those already built and their respective social and economic valuation. For a long time now, the company has had negative equity, a phenomenon that indicates a situation of technical bankruptcy in the light of the applicable legislation.
