Law No. 94/IX/2020 creating the Special Maritime Economic Zone in São Vicente (ZEEMSV) or Special Economic Zone in São Vicente.

This Law, consisting of 51 articles divided into seven Chapters, creates the Special Maritime Economic Zone in São Vicente (ZEEMSV) or Special Economic Zone in São Vicente. ZEEMSV is a legal person under public law endowed with administrative, financial and patrimonial, organizational and regulatory autonomy. It establishes the special legal regime for its organization, development and operation, regulating the administration and management, as well as economic and financial management, superintendence and monitoring, the investment regime, and the establishment and activity, and its relations with the municipality of São Vicente. One of the main duties of ZEEMSV is to promote the development of the island of São Vicente geared towards the best use of its potential in the field of maritime economy, namely for its transformation into a maritime logistics platform for transhipment of cargo and containers, processing, marketing of products of the sea and shipbuilding and repair and an internationally renowned tourist destination in the central Atlantic Ocean.
