Abstract
This Resolution, consisting of 10 articles, creates the National Committee for the Conservation of Cetaceans (CNNC). CNCC is an advisory body of the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, with a technical structure for decision making related to the conservation of cetaceans throughout the national territory. It establishes composition, duties and responsibilities of the above mentioned Committee, entitled to perform the following activities: identify the legislative needs and regulations aiming at the conservation of cetaceans and propose the competent entities to regulate or update them; analyse and give technical advice on issues related to the conservation of cetaceans (research, monitoring, threats, requests for permits or licences); support in the definition of research and monitoring programs; discuss and propose the national list of species that should be included in the list of endangered species of the country; implement, monitor and evaluate resolutions, regulations and recommendations concerning the conservation of cetaceans; facilitate the sharing of scientific, technical and legal information necessary to coordinate conservation measures; support in the training and awareness component for the conservation and enhancement of these species and the reduction of threats; analyse, monitor and evaluate the implementation of the national plan; and elaborate and approve the internal regulations of the CNCC.
