Abstract
The Government of Cape Verde approved, through Resolution No. 127/2017 of 17 November the 2nd National Action Plan for Human Rights and Citizenship (II PNADHC 2017-2022), defining the major guidelines and priorities of the country in terms of Human Rights. In 2021, the National Commission for Human Rights and Citizenship (CNDHC) carried out an assessment of the implementation of the II PNADHC, having diagnosed some factors that greatly affected the implementation of the actions foreseen in the plan, including The COVID 19 Pandemic stands out. The continuity of ongoing actions will allow the initially proposed goals and objectives to be achieved and for new actions to be developed to face emerging challenges. With this extension, it will be possible to concentrate efforts on improving and strengthening actions already underway, as well as responding more effectively to the demands that emerged during the pandemic. In this sense, extending the period of validity of the II PNDHC until 2025 is an appropriate and fully justified measure, considering the challenges posed by the pandemic and the progress made to date.
