Abstract
The main objective of this Resolution is to establishes the extension of the validity of the Biannual Executive Plan for the Management of Fishery Resources until June 2018, under Decree-Law No. 53/2005 of 8 August, which defines the general principles of the policy for the sustainable exploitation of fishery resources. In addition, to respond to the challenges of the sector, it is in line with Cape Verde's principles and commitments at international level, including the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea of 1982, the United Nations Code of Conduct on Responsible Fisheries of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Convention on Biological Diversity, and FAO's International Plan to Combat Illegal Unreported and Unregulated Fisheries. The Biannual Executive Plan for the Management of Fisheries Resources 2016-2017, approved by Resolution No. 29/2016 of 16 March is an important management tool that contributes to the sustainability of fishing resources and the licensing of activities fishing. The same is true of the policy of responsible exploitation of living marine resources.
