Abstract
This Law, in order to implement the European Regulation 2016/1012 of the European Parliament and of the Council on zootechnical and genealogical conditions for the breeding, trade in and entry into the Union of purebred breeding animals, hybrid breeding pigs and the germinal products thereof, identifies the Department of Agriculture as the competent authority, empowered to: recognise the breeding societies and breeding enterprises and prepare updated lists of these societies and enterprises; approve breeding programs; monitor the performance of official controls and official activities; evaluate and approve applications, documents, certificates and data submitted in pursuance to the provisions of this Law and the European Regulation; issue certificates, permits and other necessary documents; carry out reproduction programmes and performance control or genetic evaluation of breeding animals. The Law also defines: roles and responsibilities of ministerial inspectors; administrative sanctions; offences and penalties; ministerial power to make Regulations concerning: fees and procedure for payment, trade in competition animal, obligations of any business and breeding company.
