Abstract
These Regulations may be cited as the Fisheries (Amendment) Regulations, 2004 and shall be read as one with the Fisheries Regulations, 1990-2000 (hereinafter referred to as the principal Regulations ). The principal Regulations and the present Regulations shall be read as one and will be referred to as the Fisheries Regulations of 1990-2004.
For the purposes of implementing certain regulations of the European Community, the present regulations carry forward amendments to certain sections of the principal Regulations. Sections 2, 6, 7, 11, 12 and 21 of the principal Regulations are hereby amended. Also, a new section (24A) is added to the principal Regulations. Sections 9, 10A and Annex II are hereby replaced by new provisions set forth in this text. Section 20 is abrogated. The modifications are basically in connection with fishing licenses, mesh size, prohibition of use of certain fishing gear, the institution of a satellite-based Vessel Monitoring System, and the size of fish that may be legally caught.
