Abstract
These Regulations, consisting of 17 articles, issued pursuant to the provisions of article 29 of the Law no. 54 of 1996 on Food (Control and Sale) and incorporating the Commission Directive 2002/16/EC on the use of certain epoxy derivates in materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs and the Commission Directive 2002/72/EC relating to plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs, apply to materials and articles which, being in their final form, are either intended to come into contact with food or are in contact with food and are intended for this purpose, but do not apply to any permanent public or private water supply facility and any substance or material, part of food and that can be consumed with it.
The Regulations define the following relevant terms: registered trademark; transition and special transition; good industrial practice; plastic and related terms; food simulator; vending; final consumer; regenerated cellulose film, as a thin sheet of material obtained from refined non-recycled cypress of wood or cotton. Matters covered by these Regulations include: import, sale, use of material and articles; potential danger to human health; labels and packaging inscriptions; prohibition and limitation of the sale of inappropriate materials; characteristics of materials and articles made of polymers and of materials made of ceramic; application to regenerated cellulose film; characteristics of objects made of rubber or elastomer; release limits of certain substances in objects in contact with food; analysis and examination in governmental chemical laboratory.
