Abstract
This law may be cited as the Food (Control and Sale) (Amendment) Law of 2001 and shall be read as one with the Food (Control and Sale) Laws of 1996 and 2000 (No.2) (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Law”). The principal Law and the present Law shall be read in conjunction and will be referred to as the Food (Control and Sale) Laws 1996-2001. The Law provides for certain amendments to the principal law, more specifically: the present law brings forth certain wording amendments to articles 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 14, 20, 21 and 23; the powers of controlling officers are hereby amended by replacing certain parts of article 14; the terms for sampling, official analysis (article 15) and treatment (article 16) of samples are hereby replaced; the powers of customs officers, established by article 17 of the principal law, are amended; a new article 17A provides for professional secrecy; article 28 is replaced; the purposes on which the Cabinet of Ministers may issue regulations (article 29) are replaced hereby; the Annex to the principal law containing the form for the certificate of food analysis is replaced by the Annex contained herewith.

Entry into force notes
The Law shall enter into force six months after the date of its publication in the Official Gazette, except for the provisions of article 11 (amending article 29 of the principal law) which shall enter into force on the day of publication of the Law in the Official Gazette.
