Abstract
This Law may be cited as the Food (Control and Sale) (Amendment) Law of 2011 and shall be read as one with the Food (Control and Sale) Laws of 1996 up to 2010 (hereinafter referred to as “the principal Law”). The principal Law and the present Law shall be read as one and will be referred to as the Food (Control and Sale) Laws 1996-2011.The law is issued with the purpose of a better implementation of article 4 (paragraphs 3, 5 and 6) and of article 27 (paragraphs 1, 4 and 5) to Regulation (EC) No. 882/2004 as was last amended by Commission Regulation (EC) No 1029/2008. The amendments to the principal law brought forth with this law establish the powers of the Hygiene and Public Health Services of Municipalities. Under this light, the law brings forth the following amendments: a new article 14B is introduced, laying down the powers to Municipal Health Services. A minor word amendment is introduced in article 16A. Also, a new Annex IV is added, listing down the Municipal Hygiene and Public Health Services which have the competence to perform controls on food-possessing enterprises and installations.
