Law no. 120 of 2019 concerning Prevention and Management of the Introduction and Spread of Invasive Alien Species.

This Law, consisting of 23 articles, applies terms and provisions of EU Regulation no. 1143/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the prevention and management of the introduction and spread of invasive alien species, as last amended by Regulation (EU) 2016/2031 of the European Parliament and of the Council, and of Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) 2018/968, supplementing Regulation (EU) no. 1143/2014 of the European Parliament and of the Council regarding risk assessments in relation to invasive alien species.
In order to comply with European Legislation, the Law provides for: the drawing up of a national list of invasive alien species of national interest, including: animals, plants, fungi or micro-organisms; an Action Plan for each invasive foreign species that includes: analysis of the routes of unintentional introduction and spread of the species, rapid eradication measures, management and restoration measures; an invasive alien species surveillance system; the establishment and operation of a scientific committee and of a management committee on invasive alien species; licensing system; inspection and related powers, including: entering any premises or establishment for sale of animals or plant and inspecting the transport of invasive alien species outside restricted conservation areas; seizing and/or detaining samples of invasive alien species; offences and penalties; issuance of decrees and regulations.
