Law no. 124 (I) of 2021 on the Commercial Fisheries (Implementation of the Agreement between COGECA, ETF and Europêche on the Implementation of the 2007 International Labor Organisation Convention on Work in the Fisheries Sector).

This Law, consisting of 42 articles, divided into six Parts, provides for the harmonisation of the Cypriot Legislation with the European Union Council Directive 2017/159/EU on the implementation of the agreement on the implementation of the Convention of the International Labor Organisation of 2007 on work in the fishing sector concluded on 21 May 2012 between the General Confederation of Agricultural Cooperatives of the European Union (COGECA), the European Federation of Transport Workers' Unions (ETF) and the Union of National Organisations of Fishing Enterprises of the European Union (Europêche). This Law applies to fishermen, working on fishing vessels and concerns commercial fishing and related employment. The matters covered by this Law concern: responsibilities of fishing vessel owners, master and fishermen, including: respect of occupational safety and health; minimum requirements when working on fishing vessels, including age, night work, medical certificate, safe staffing, working and rest hours, annual leave, right of repatriation; occupational safety and health, including: providing drinking water and food, medicines and medical supplies, education about medical care measures, financial responsibilities of fishing vessel owners, risk assessment and management; final provisions, criminal offences, administrative fines.
