Abstract
This Law, implementing European Regulations on the matter, establishes measures for the control of trade in timber and timber products in Cyprus, by setting obligations for operators, ensuring legal sourcing and traceability of products. The Law covers the following matters: establishment of the responsible authority for implementing the content of the Law; appointment of inspectors and their role for timber trade control; specification of powers of forest officers and forest police; issuance of licences for timber and firewood trade; enforcement and compliance measures; offences and penalties.
