Law no. 200 of 2021 concerning Unfair Commercial Practices in the Agricultural Products and Food Supply Chain.

This Law, consisting of 14 articles and implementing the Directive (EU) 2019/633 of the European Parliament and of the Council on unfair commercial practices in business-to-business relations in the agricultural and food supply chain, provides for unfair trade practices in the agricultural and food supply chain and applies in the supply chain of agricultural products and food, in sales and in the services. The Law defines the following relevant terms: buyer; agrarian organisations; unfair commercial practices; perishable agricultural products and foodstuffs; agricultural products; public authority; consumer; force majeure, including: a) severe natural disaster, b) destruction of premises intended for the rearing of the animals, c) epizootic disease affecting livestock, d) plant diseases caused by adverse weather conditions, e) a major natural disaster or accident which significantly affected a fishing vessel or aquaculture facilities.
Matters covered by this Law concern: fields of application of the Law; definition of and conditions for realising unfair commercial practices; responsibilities of authorised officers, including inspection; powers and obligations of the competent authority; administrative fines; liability of officials; submission of reports; advisory committee; offences and penalties; power to issue regulations.
