Abstract
This Act establishes and regulates independent living services and benefits for persons with disabilities, in order to allow them to exercise their rights to social participation, inclusion and independent living, in accordance with the principles, values and obligations of the state, as set out in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The Act concerns: categories of services for persons with disabilities, including educational services, employment integration, Cyprus sign language interpreter; register of licensed providers of independent living services; special provisions for the licensing of legal entities and individuals for the provision of independent living services; categories of independent living benefits to which persons with disabilities have access, in order to facilitate their independent living within the community and their social inclusion; procedures for accessing independent living services and benefits; powers of competent authority, including inspecting any premises or place or vehicle; offences and penalties; administrative fines.
