Abstract
With the aim of aligning the Cypriot legislative framework with Council Directive 2008/90/EC, the Cabinet of Ministers issues the present Regulations. These Regulations establish requirements for the production and marketing of fruit plant propagating material and fruit plants intended for fruit production. A detailed list of such requirements is provided in Annex II to these Regulations. The provisions of these Regulations shall apply to the genera and species listed in Annex I as well as to their hybrids. They shall also apply to rootstocks and other parts of plants of other genera or species than those listed in Annex I or their hybrids, if material of genera or species listed in Annex I or their hybrids is grafted or is to be grafted onto them. The regulations provide, among other provisions, for the general requirements for placing on the market this propagating material, specific requirements for genus and species, general and specific requirements to be met by suppliers, variety identification and labelling, exemptions, import of propagating material and fruit plants produced in third countries, control measures and official inspections, Community monitoring.

Entry into force notes
The Regulations shall enter into force on 30 September 2012. Regulations 5, 15(1) and 22 shall enter into force on the day of publication in the Official Gazette.
Notes
The Marketing of Fruit Plant Propagating Material Intended for Fruit Production Regulations of 2005 shall be repealed as from 20 September 2012.
