Abstract
The Law, consisting of 45 articles and 1 Annex, aims at promoting and encouraging the use of energy from renewable sources. This Law establishes a common framework for the promotion of energy from renewable sources with the following objectives: (a) sets mandatory national targets for the overall share of energy from renewable sources in gross final energy consumption of the Republic and the share of energy from renewable sources in transport; (b) lays down rules relating to statistical transfers between the Republic and other Member States, joint projects between the Republic and other Member States and/or with third countries, administrative procedures, information and training of installers for small-scale renewable energies and access to the electric transmission and distribution system for energy from renewable sources; obligation to comply with the sustainability criteria, which are specified in the specifications of Petroleum and Fuels Act, in order to apply support schemes and take into account energy from renewable sources. The Annex specifies National overall targets for the share of energy from renewable sources in final energy consumption up to 2020 for each Member State.
