Abstract
These Regulations implement provisions of article 26 of the Law no. 147/I of 2003 on Protection Measures Against the Importation and Spread of Organisms Harmful to Plants and Plant Products, and provide for harmonisation of Cyprus Legislation with the Commission Directive 93/51/EEC establishing rules for movements of certain plants, plant products or other objects through a protected zone, and for movements of such plants, plant products or other objects originating in and moving within such a protected zone. The Regulations concern: designation of protected zones for plants, plant products and other objects to protect them from harmful organisms; transport of plants and plant products throughout these zones; packaging to protect plants and prevent the spread of harmful organisms and substances; respect of phytosanitary standards; official inspection and related measures in case of misconduct.
