Abstract
The plan aims to mitigate the effects of the spread of the Covid 19 epidemic and negatively affect the work of fishermen in financial terms due to market disruption and reduced demand on the part of consumers. The declining demand for fishery products and falling prices combined with the vulnerability and complexity of the supply chain are detrimental to fishing activities. Beneficiaries of the Plan and conditions for Participation are: The Plan is addressed to fishermen/boat owners who hold a professional fishing license for commercial fishing vessels registered in the Cyprus Fisheries Register (MAS) for small-scale coastal fishing and multi-faceted fishing. Fishermen/boat owners with category C licenses are not eligible to participate in this Plan. Beneficiaries are owners of fishing boats that are registered as active (active fishing license) and have been engaged in fishing activities at sea for at least 120 days during the two calendar years preceding the date of submission of this application/expression of interest (ie have exercised fishing activities at sea for at least 120 days during the years 2018 and 2019).
The Plan covers the period from 13 April 2020 to 13 June 2020 and may be extended in the event of a decision by the President of the Republic to keep restrictive measures. The request for expressions of interest submitted by fishermen will also be considered as an Application for the Submission of a Proposal for their inclusion in the Temporary Termination Plan for Fisheries Activities. Procedure for Submission and Evaluation of the Application for Expressions of Interest Those interested are invited to submit their applications from 10 April 2020 until 16 April 2020.
