Abstract
The Act lays down the obligations of persons and the competence of the administrative authorities in the use of genetically modified organisms and products. In the use of genetically modified organisms and products, every individual shall be obliged to protect the health of human beings and animals, the environment and biological diversity (sect. 3). Authorization for the use of genetically modified organisms and products pursuant to this Act shall arise through a decision on registration in the list (sect. 3). An application for registration onto the List shall be submitted by the user to the Ministry of Environment. Genetically modified organisms and products that have not been placed on the market in the Czech Republic may be imported, exported or placed in transit only by a user registered in the List of Users (sect. 10). The Act includes detailed provisions on penalties related to this law (sect. 21).
