Decree on the protection of selected species of beasts and great apes during breeding.

This Decree of the Ministry of Agriculture, which is composed of 31 articles, regulates breeding conditions of selected species of beasts and great apes, requirements for the construction, security, size and equipment of premises, housing conditions and requirements for equipment, feeding and watering of selected species of beasts and great apes. An animal breeder must: (a) provide animals with freedom of movement, taking into account their natural needs; (b) have a parking space available; (c) have a breeding area available for the separation of the animal, if the separation of the animal is required by its state of health, isolation, quarantine, treatment or stage of biological activity, or if the animal is exposed to temporary aggressive behavior of other animals; (d) keep separately animals that are characterized by permanent intolerance, or are themselves exposed to permanent aggressive behavior of other animals; (e) ensure at least once a day an inspection of the animals and breeding areas, including their equipment and security, (f) have stable or mobile lighting which enables proper inspection of animals and equipment; (g) ensure that the animal has, according to its physiological needs, sufficient access to daylight with the alternation of day and night; (h) carry out regular cleaning of breeding areas and their surroundings and sufficient maintenance of breeding areas; (i) ensure feeding and watering of animals in accordance with their physiological needs; (j) ensure that animals have access to water that does not endanger their health.
