Abstract
The purpose of the present Act is to transpose, inter alia, the Regulation (EU) No. 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 December 2013 establishing a common organisation of the markets in agricultural products into German legislation. The program supports the distribution of healthy, locally sourced agricultural products like fruits, vegetables, and dairy to students in schools. Its primary goal is to encourage healthy eating habits, provide nutritional education, and support local farmers by integrating their products into school meal programs. The law outlines the structure, funding, and implementation of the program, ensuring that agricultural products are accessible and affordable for schools to include in their daily offerings. The text consists of 9 articles as follows: Sphere of application (1); Applicable legislation (2); Participation in the school programme for agricultural commodities (3); Distribution of Union subsidies within its members (4); Reporting obligations (5); Power of executive legislation (6); Issue of regulations (7); Transitional provisions (8); Entry into force, repeal (9).
