Abstract
The present Law aims at keeping as low as possible the amount of waste (waste prevention), avoiding, or at least reducing, hazardous substances contained in waste (minimalizing of harmful substances); recycling of waste, in particular of glass, paper, metal, plastic, building rubbish and organic substances (waste recycling), processing non re-usable hazardous substances in such a way that they may be used or stored without damage to the environment (waste treatment), storing non-recyclable or non-treatable waste (waste storage). These aims shall be attained without harming the well-being of the community: special attention shall be paid not to endanger the health of human beings and the environment. The text consists of 30 articles divided into 8 Parts as follows: Waste management objectives, public sector obligations (I); Waste disposal authorities (II); Waste management plans, waste balance and waste management concept (III); Waste disposal facilities (IV); Financial promotion of waste management measures (V); Material competence, orders for individual cases, supervision (VI); Administrative offences (VII); Entry into force (VIII).
Through the recent amendment of this Law, Article 6 and Articles 15 - 19 are deleted.
