Abstract
The present Law lays down provisions relating to the protection of nature and landscape in the Land of Berlin. To conserve the environment for future generations, nature and its landscape, being the living space of human beings, shall be protected in such a way as to secure in the long run its integrity, capability of regeneration and sustainable use, as well as to ensure the conservation of flora and fauna and living spaces, including its beauty and recreation value. The present Law consists of 56 articles divided into 12 Parts as follows: General provisions (1); Land use planning (2); General protection, care and development measures (3); Protection, care and development of certain parts of nature and landscape (4); Protection and care of reeds (5); Protection and care of wild fauna and flora (6); Recreation in nature and landscape (7); Authorities and institutions of nature protection (8); Competences of authorities, duty to give information, right of passage and sustaining costs (9); Compensation (10); Penalties, exemptions (11); Transitional and final provisions (12).
