Abstract
The Bremian Water Act (BremWG) governs the management of water resources in Bremen, ensuring the protection and sustainable use of water bodies. It outlines the responsibilities of various parties, including those obligated to maintain water bodies, owners of watercourses, residents, authorized users, and relevant authorities. The Act emphasizes the importance of public participation and consultation, allowing recognized nature conservation associations to provide input on relevant issues. Additionally, the Act addresses the maintenance obligations for water bodies, with the water authority responsible for identifying and rectifying any deficiencies. It also allows for the regulation of maintenance obligations and specific duties by the upper water authority through legal provisions. Furthermore, the Act covers the maintenance of dam structures, providing guidelines for the regulation of dam facilities.
