Abstract
The purpose of the present Act is to transpose into German legislation the Directive 2013/56/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Directive 2006/66/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 November 2013 on batteries and accumulators and waste batteries and accumulators as regards the placing on the market of portable batteries and accumulators containing cadmium intended for use in cordless power tools, and of button cells with low mercury content. The Act introduces some minor amendments to the Batteries Act of 25 June 2009 (BGBl. I p. 1582). In particular, article 14, paragraph 1, is reworded establishing that all collected and identifiable waste batteries shall be treated according to the latest state of technology.
Furthermore, the Act introduces some amendments to the Waste Avoidance, Recovery and Disposal Act of 24 February 2012 (BGBl. I p. 212). In particular, after the letter c) in footnote 1 the letter d) shall be added laying down provisions relating to the Climate Correction Factor.
