Abstract
Article 1 contains the Poultry Meat Hygiene Ordinance. It consists of 21 articles and 6 Annexes. At the outset the Ordinance contains a definition clause dealing with various terms therein employed, such as "animal carcasse", "waste products in slaughtering", "poultry meat products", "preparation of poultry meat", etc. Then the Ordinance deals with issues such as inspection of poultry meat, inspection of slaughterhouses, authorization and registration of slaughterhouses, importation from other EC countries.
Moreover, this Ordinance amends the Meat Hygiene Ordinance of 21 May 1997 (BGBl. I p. 1138), the Ordinance of 10 Mai 1976 on minced meat, the Ordinance of 18 April 1997 on importation and finally the Ordinance on milk of 24 April 1995 (BGBl. I p. 544); finally article 5 contains the Ordinance on prohibiting the use of products deriving from cattle, sheep and goats for the production of cosmetics and foodstuff.

This Ordinance amends the Ordinance of 10 Mai 1976 on minced meat and the Ordinance of 18 April 1997 on importation; moreover, it repeals the Ordinance of 8 November 1976 on poultry meat, the Ordinance of 3 November 1976 on hygiene of poultry meat and the Ordinance of 19 July 1996 on animal disease.
