Hessen Fishery Act (HFischG).

The Act establishes regulations for the management and protection of fish populations in Hessen. The Act outlines the objectives of sustainable fishing practices, the scope of its application, and the rights associated with fishing. Key provisions include the establishment of protective zones (Schonbezirke) where fishing activities may be restricted or prohibited to safeguard aquatic ecosystems and fish reproduction. The Act also mandates the marking of these protective zones by the fisheries authority, with landowners required to tolerate this without compensation. The Act emphasizes good fishing practices, detailing regulations on fishing times, species restrictions, and measures to protect fish habitats. It includes guidelines on the handling of under sized or over sized fish, as well as the transportation and sale of fish caught during closed seasons. Additionally, it addresses the responsibilities of individuals and entities operating water extraction facilities to prevent harm to fish populations. Compensation for damages caused by the enforcement of the Act is also covered, ensuring that affected parties are compensated for any financial losses incurred due to regulatory measures.
