Abstract
The present Law lays down provisions relating to the disposal of waste in the Land of Lower Saxony. The Land shall promote the: a) reduction of the amount of waste resulting from production processes and the bringing into circulation of goods; b) extension of the validity period of products; c) re-cycling processes; d) development and use of devices to decrease the hazardous waste contents and e) re-use of waste. The text consists of 49 articles divided into 8 Parts as follows: General provisions on the prevention and disposal of waste (Waste Management) (I); Waste disposal on behalf of public bodies (II); Waste disposal and monitoring of special hazardous waste (III); Planning of waste disposal (IV); Waste disposal plants (V); Discharge of waste of ships and cargo residues in maritime ports (VI); Prevention of danger, competent authorities, violations, costs (VII); Transitional and final provisions (VIII).
