Abstract
The purpose of the present Law is to implement the Council Directive 79/409/EEC of 2 April 1979 on the conservation of wild birds. The Law lays down provisions relating to the sustainable protection of nature and landscape in the Land of Sachsen-Anhalt. To conserve the environment for future generations, nature and its landscape, being the living space of human beings, shall be protected in such a way as to secure in the long run its integrity, capability of regeneration and sustainable use, as well as to ensure the conservation of flora and fauna and living spaces, including its beauty and recreation value. The text consists of 71 articles divided into 13 Parts as follows: General provisions (1); Landscape planning (2); General protection of nature and landscape (3); Special provisions for the exploitation of minerals (4); Protection, care and development of certain parts (5); European ecological net “Natura 2000”(6); Protection and care of wild animal species and plant species (7); Recreation in nature and landscape (8); Participation of associations (9); Completing provisions (10); Competent authorities (11); Penalties (12); Transitional and final provisions (13).
