Abstract
The present Ordinance establishes the legal conditions under which rainwater may be infiltrated into the ground without requiring a formal permit in the German state of Thuringia. Its primary aim is to promote sustainable water management while protecting soil and groundwater quality. The regulation defines key terms, outlines technical and environmental requirements for infiltration systems, and specifies where infiltration is not allowed, such as in water protection areas or on contaminated land. It also includes guidelines for proper system design, dimensioning, operation, and maintenance to ensure that rainwater infiltration is carried out safely, effectively, and without harming the environment. By simplifying procedures for low-risk, decentralized rainwater management, the regulation supports local water retention and the natural water cycle. The text consists of 4 articles.
