Abstract
The present Act lays down provisions relating to the management of water resources. It comprises various sections dealing with the management of surface waters, marine waters, and measures for flood prevention. Section 2 addresses common use, ownership, and riparian rights, management objectives for surface waters, classification of artificial bodies of water, minimum flow rates, continuity of surface waters, and water power utilization. It also establishes deadlines for achieving management objectives, deviations from management objectives, and exceptions to the goals. Furthermore, adverse effects of flooding on protected assets, flood prevention measures, and reducing the probability of flooding are discussed in Section 73 paragraph 1 sentence 2. The text consists of 108 Articles divided into 6 Parts as follows: General provisions (1); Management of water (2); Special water resources provisions (3); Compensation (4); Survey of waters (5); Penalties and transitional provisions (6). Two Annexes are enclosed.
