Abstract
This Ordinance serves as a comprehensive framework governing various aspects of wine production, labelling, and marketing within Germany. It provides detailed regulations to implement the overarching provisions of the German Wine Law and ensures alignment with European Union directives. The Ordinance addresses multiple facets of the wine industry, including cultivation practices, processing methods, quality classifications, and labelling requirements. Its primary objectives are to safeguard consumer health, protect consumer interests, and maintain market order within the wine sector. The Ordinance is structured into seven sections and covers wine-growing regions; cultivation rules; processing; quality wine; labelling and presentation; criminal offences and administrative offences; and final provisions.
