Abstract
This Act supplements the EU Methane Regulation by establishing the Danish legal framework needed to apply, administer, supervise, and enforce rules on the reduction of methane emissions in the energy sector. It empowers the Minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities to designate a competent authority, which may determine whether activities fall within the Regulation, request information, conduct inspections without a court order at business premises, carry out technical examinations, issue compliance orders, and impose daily coercive fines. The Act also establishes duties to provide information, rules on fees, digital communication, automated decision-making, access to relevant tax information, implementation of EU measures and technical specifications, appeals to the Energy Complaints Board, penalties including fines and confiscation of economic benefits, and corporate liability.
