Abstract
The present Climate Action Plan for Agriculture sets out the Government's intention to cut carbon dioxide emissions from agriculture by 7.1 million tons by 2030, primarily through increased spending on green farming technologies. The Government will allocate funds amounting to 700 million kroner for research and innovation for biogas fuels and other technologies. The Action Plan includes initiatives such as a partial ban on farming on peat soil through which carbon is being released; funding research and development of new technologies such as pyrolysis, which converts agricultural residues into fuel and biochar; using EU subsidy schemes for agriculture actively in the green transition within the agriculture sector; reducing nitrogen emissions by 10,400 tons by 2027; and incentivising agriculture within the younger population through economic support.
