Abstract
This Executive Order, of the Ministry of Food, sets out the rules for establishing and operating veterinary border inspection posts and inspection centers in Greenland. These facilities are responsible for carrying out veterinary checks on imported fish products, live shellfish, their by-products, and derived goods. To be approved, inspection posts must meet strict requirements regarding construction, hygiene, equipment, and staffing. Approval is granted by the EU Commission and the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, and operators are responsible for financing, maintaining, and equipping the facilities. The Order also outlines the use of veterinary control certificates, defines key terms, and establishes the geographical and operational conditions under which these facilities may operate.
Oversight is conducted by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration, which can suspend or revoke approvals if conditions are not met, especially to protect public and animal health. Operators are not compensated if approvals are suspended or withdrawn. The regulation also includes provisions for penalties in case of violations, documentation requirements, and minimum data that must be recorded during inspections. Annexes detail the technical, personnel, and procedural standards necessary for approval, as well as requirements for registering rejected or returned consignments.
