Abstract
This document gives guidelines to farms planning on achieving health status as category I or II for IPN and/or BKD, by ensuring water supply is freed from diseases. Their high health status is ensured by biosecurity and intensive clinical and laboratory monitoring. Approval of clean water supply to aquaculture farms shall be granted by the Danish Veterinary and Food Administration. Farms supplied by clean water approved prior to 1 August 2013 and registered with an IPN or BKD health status as Category I or II, shall maintain this health status classification. Changes to the passage possibility of fish (such as the removal of artificial or natural barriers preventing the recovery of fish) shall affect the approval of breeding farms’ water supply. Removal of artificial or natural barriers shall not maintain IN or BKD-free status classification. These shall however maintain their IPN and BKD-free health status if water supply is changed, in a way that farms are supplied by contamination-free water.
