Abstract
The present Order, of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, lays down rules on monitoring and control of Transmissible Spongiform Encephalopathies (TSE) such as scrapie and BSE in sheep and goats. The Order contains reporting obligations for owners or users of a flock.
The Order consists of 26 Articles organized in the following Chapters: 1. Scope of application and definitions; 2. Clinical suspicion of TSE; 3. Monitoring at slaughterhouses and Category 1 processing facilities; 4. Special requirements for approved laboratories; 5. Suspicion of TSE and public supervision; 6. Infection with TSE; 7. Infection with BSE; 8. Infection with normal scrapie; 9. Detection of atypical scrapie; 10. Cleaning, disinfection, reintroduction of animals, etc.; 11. Payment and compensation; 12. Penalties and entry into force.
