Abstract
The Executive Order regulates occupational health and safety work on all Danish and Greenlandic fishing vessels and applies to persons employed to perform commercial work on board. It places overall responsibility on shipowners and masters to ensure a safe and healthy physical and psychological working environment and requires cooperation among management, officers, fishers and other workers. It establishes different safety-organization arrangements according to crew size, including regional safety committees for vessels with seven or fewer workers, safety groups and joint committees for vessels with eight to fifteen workers, and onboard safety groups and committees for vessels with sixteen or more workers. It also sets training and refresher-course requirements for safety representatives, regulates risk assessment, accident investigation, meetings, reporting and the power to stop imminently dangerous work, and provides for fines or imprisonment for violations.
