Abstract
This Order establishes the legal framework for the issuance and administration of Danish hunting licences (jagttegn). It regulates eligibility for obtaining and renewing hunting licences, the maintenance of the hunting licence register, annual licence fees, mandatory reporting of hunting harvests, and the requirement for liability insurance. The Order also sets out detailed rules for the basic hunting examination, including compulsory hunter training, written and practical tests, and police approval prior to licence issuance. In addition, it governs specialised authorisations for hunting with shotguns, rifles, and bows, including mandatory shooting tests, training courses, proficiency requirements, and endorsements on hunting licences permitting the use of specific hunting methods.
The Order further regulates the approval, training and supervision of hunting-course instructors, bowhunting instructors and shooting instructors, establishes procedures for appeals, exemptions and sanctions, and requires licensed hunters to report annual game harvests to support wildlife management. It also provides rules on recognition of certain foreign hunting qualifications and licences for persons residing abroad, Greenland or the Faroe Islands.
