Order No. 256 on the reduction of emissions of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, volatile organic compounds, fine particles, and ammonia.

This Order establishes Denmark’s framework for reducing emissions of sulphur dioxide (SO₂), nitrogen oxides (NOx), non-methane volatile organic compounds (NMVOCs), fine particulate matter (PM₂.₅), and ammonia (NH₃) in accordance with the EU NEC Directive. It regulates the preparation and periodic updating of national air pollution control programmes, requires the compilation and reporting of emissions inventories and projections, sets national emission-reduction commitments through 2030 and beyond, and provides for the monitoring of air-pollution impacts on ecosystems. The Order also includes mandatory and optional measures to reduce emissions, particularly from agriculture, establishes public consultation and reporting requirements.
