Abstract
This Executive Order, issued by the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, regulates the addition of vitamins and minerals to foods in Denmark, excluding categories such as food supplements, infant formula, baby foods, foods for special medical purposes, meal replacements for weight control, and certain iodised salt or fortified-ingredient cases. It sets general permissions and maximum permitted levels for vitamins and minerals in different food categories, including drinks, milk products and plant-based alternatives, cereals, bread, flour, gluten-free products, fats, salt, confectionery, meat/fish alternatives, and meal-replacement products. Where an addition is not covered by a general permission, businesses must notify the Danish food authority and provide specified product and nutrition information before use; the authority may impose conditions or prohibit the addition on health or nutrition grounds. The order also applies EU mutual-recognition rules, and provides penalties for non-compliance.
